Jamie Records

Jamie Records was a record label founded in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1957 by Harold Lipsius. Their first 45rpm single, "It's Great To Fall In Love"/"Truly" by Marian Caruso (Jamie 1033), was issued in 1957. They hit the big-time in 1958 with the release of Duane Eddy's "Rebel Rouser"/"Stalkin'" (Jamie 1104). Eddy became the mainstay Jamie artist, recording hit after hit, unprecedented for an instrumentalist. He single-handedly turned Jamie into one of the most successful independent labels of its day during his tenure there. Eddy's last Jamie single "Runaway Pony"/"Just Because" (Jamie 1224) was issued in 1962. Another Jamie group were the Jordan Brothers from Frackville, PA. Their first release was "Send Me Your Picture" and their biggest hit "Gimme Some Lovin'” was released in the US before the more successful version by The Spencer Davis Group. The Jordans toured with Dick Clark’s Caravan Of Stars bus tour and appeared on numerous Philadelphia and New Jersey-based TV shows.
The last major charting record on Jamie was released in 1966, when the label issued Crispian St. Peters' "The Pied Piper" in the U.S. Afterwards, the hits came out on their subsidiary labels, which included Phil-L.A. of Soul (The Fantastic Johnny C., Cliff Nobles & Co.), Dionn (Brenda and The Tabulations) and Sundi (Mercy).
